The other day i was decided to hold my 8cm Curly hair while i changed the soil,I felt something scratching me and when i looked the curly was scratching her fangs on my hand :huh:

Does anyone know why she was doing this? Was she trying to bite me?

all Ts can bite I dono but maybe its fangs were ichi :S :huh: :blink: :laugh:

I don't think she was trying to bite you, she would probably much rather try and run away than sit there and try to bite you, also if she is 8cm, you would know if she was biting you as her fangs are already a good size. It would also have looked upset or frantic.

T's do all sorts of things with their fangs, so who knows what it was up to, I have read about a T that lost all it's legs in a bad molt and walked around for something like a year using only it's fangs.

Although curly's are docile, they are still Tarantula's and can most certainly bite if they need or want to.

Could be that it was cleaning it's mouth and in in the process of that she scratched your hand... who knows really ... but the fact is curlys can bite and will when provoked enough.

Since they are new world they will probably kick of some of its lovely urticating hair before considering a bite which in my opinion can have a lot more damage than a bite... the eyes spring to mind.
