I am looking for a Brachypelma albopilosum(Curley Hair) female. I have a male and would love to attemp my first mate.
If you have ma female for sale or want a male for a breeding loan, please let me know.
One of my friends have 2 female Brachypelma albopilosum and both of her attempts to mate them, both males were eaten by the females. Could anyone advice me why this happened? Mabe give me some more advice how you could approve the mating chances?

Firstly welcome to the hobby!
Trust you will have fun and learn
I am no expert, but with the two females i have I have found that if I feed them a day or two before the mating things tend to go smoothly
With you male check first if he has spun a spermweb, this is a funny stringy looking web that is mostly spun on the floor or substrate
I he has done so then he is ready for action

So then put your male in you females tank or container, i normally have my feeding tweezers at hand to play referee should i see things gong south
Male should tap and female will turn in males direction, just keep a sharp lookout when they get together mating will then take place i am not clued up on the terminology, but male has two hooks on his front legs and with this he will keep females claws open so that she does not bite him and then with the pedipalps he will then insert the sperm onthe females pouch. When they separate get the boy out there pronto otherwise he is lunch or supper

a little advice om sperm webs.

Usually when a male is done making a sperm web he destroys it, so it might not be as easy as spotting a hammock against the the glass.

I have had males that I never witnessed a sperm web or any evidence of it and they produced slings, males are really sneaky :blink:

I have been fortunate to catch multiple males in the act of producing sperm webs :woohoo: I am amazed every time.

My experience with albopilosum males is that they make sperm webs like crazy, especially when they're not to old.

They will make a sperm web after each mating, maybe even two or three At least my male did :laugh:

O ja, another thing.

Think carefully about breeding B. albopilosum. There is a lot of them going around, there's a lot of people that has bred them this year.

I myself have about +- 600 first in-stars and I know of a couple of other people that has successfully bred them aswell.

It is good breeding experience and they are really easy to breed.

But you have to ask yourself the question will you be able to sell 600 slings after the market has been flooded :whistle:

and I think more importantly will you be able to care for 600 slings if you cant sell them or will you be able to cull them.

I think these are some important questions you need to ask yourself.

Believe me its hard work preparing 600 tubs only to give the spiders away for free :S

Thank you all for your advice. @ Creator I never thought about it in that a way, I will need to reconsider my idea. Will not be able to cull them but I know about a few ppl that would be able to that for me.... :S .
I really need some experience in breading T`s, there for I really want to get into this new hobby of mine much deeper as it astonish me how great these creatures are. So I think it will defiantly be my while worth.
I would be devastated if something happens to my more "valued" (favourite) T`s and not knowing how to breed them.

@Milty, congrats to your first successful mate. It surely must be a great feeling hay? Can you maybe send me pictures on how these egg sacks look like? And how long was after the mate did she drop the egg sack?
