I see the double clutching has become a lot more common, It was normally something that one heard about, what can happen and sometimes did happen with the Psalmopoues species with regards to double clutching.
now it is almost ever female that does it.

My female double clutched, the second sack was not fertile.
There were 4 other people in my area all had double clutches from their females.

I would like to know why has double clutches become so common, as the female has to decide to keep sperm for the next egg sack. What would make them wont to get sperm back?
Surely we all keep our Spider in mostly the same condition so what is causing the double clutching to happen so often.

HS, The second sack mite be perfect, all depends on how much sperm the female kept back and the condition you keep her in.
Also to consider that the male mite have been infertile.

Yeah it's weird, double clutching was not common at all. Creator also had his P.irminia and P.pulcher dble clutch if I'm not wrong.

It's been a day or so but this female is still very protective of her egg sac, so maybe there's a reason. If I even get 1 sling out of it I'll be super happy.

Yes both my irminia and my pulcher double clutched.

Irminia sac was not webbed up enough, all the fluid leaked trough the webbing and she discarded it after day one.

My pulcher sac was also a bit of a mess, but with no contribution from the mother.

I pulled the sac on day 21, they started hatching day 22 and they all were dead by day 23 sad

I had a problem with scuttle flies, they laid their eggs in the pulcher eggs and a day later it was all maggots

If you have a problem with those flies I have a remedy :) throw some isopods in the enclosure, they seem to eat the eggs or the maggots and kill them off pretty fast.

...Guess not... YAY!!!

Decided to leave the sac in there with mom and it turned out to be the right decision.

Can't see clearly, but must be at least 60 or more slings in there, and they're still climbing out of the sac.

Sac no 2... Success!

I love this photo. The picture of all the slings with one massive leg coming over them.
