have u had experience breeding B vagans before? I have a pair that I would like to breed once the female has molted.. would appreciate any advice..

Vagans are pretty easy to mate, i have found most of the Brachypelma a very easy species to get to mate, but some of the red leg species are extremely difficult to get a sack from, fortunately vagans are not the case they will drop a sack almost religiously around the sep - dec months ( unless you are manipulating the temperatures and humidity). so try get the mating in within the next few months so she has time to develop the eggs

thanks, i am trying to get her to molt first as she is 8cm at the moment. any special treatment to get her to drop once she is mated? this will be my first breeding attempt.

8cm is a bit small, but still breed able. just feed her well for about 2-3 weeks afterwards, then fall back into a normal feeding routine, as you don’t want to force a molt by over feeding. also make sure she has water bowl and temps stay above 22deg, if you handle her, try not to till she has dropped, handling is very stressful. they are really a bullet proof spider, good luck.
