Thought I'd share because I'm bored, and perhaps one or two Newbies would actually find this as fascinating as I do.

The picture shows three stages of eggs hatching into first stage nymphs, or eggs with legs.

1 - The little spider can clearly be seen inside the egg. The hump on the egg indicates where the carapace developed.
2 - The egg shell has broken and the youngster starts erecting away from its own abdomen.
3 - The egg has hatched and the nymph has the characteristic "egg with legs" posture from where it will molt into a young spider. Depending on where you live on the globe, this is then first instar or second stage nymph as I understand it. (Correct me if I'm arse about face)...

Only at second instar will it resemble its parents, some will start eating then, others will only start eating at third instar.

Anyway... back to doing nothing...

These are the siblings of the " C-section " thread, molting into first instar.

Bliksem. A bear would probably kill poor Scarab (But I see your plan to get all his spiders. :)

Ok, so seen as Scarab has decided to go on holiday (Lucky bugger), I will continue this thread for the next 3 weeks. :)

The subfusca's started moulting into 2nd instars a few days ago and was going to start seperating them this week sometime.
Got home from watching the disappointing rugby game and 2 little sh1ts had started eating their brothers and sisters. :starwars:

Immediately squashed them and seperated the rest of the spiders that had moulted to 2nd instar already. Will continue taking out the slings as they moult to 2nd instar, until they are all in their own homes.
Below is a picture of some of the slings that have moulted and some still waiting to moult.
You can see the 2 half eaten spiders in the pic.

Quite a few have moulted, but I am struggling with lots of them getting stuck in their moults.
Not sure if these are the spiders that were "cut" out of their eggs by Scarab that might be giving hassles now?
Their temperature is around 28 degrees and very high humidity. Some moult perfectly and others are getting legs stuck. :(
Will wait for Scarab to get back from Namibia and then go about seperating them and seeing which can be sold.

Quick update.
Looks like 46 have moulted so far into 2nd instars. Out of those 6 will probably not make it/be for sale (3 have growths on their abdomens and 3 have skew legs)
Still around 20 that need to moult, so will see how it goes.

Another 5 had moulted this morning, so will check if there are any more that have moulted by this afternoon.
Looks like another possible 10 or so that still need to moult.
Of those that are getting stuck in moults, I am assuming that they are the slings that were "manually hatched" by Scarab. Had to pull a few spiders legs off, so keeping them seperate and will see if they recover.
Guessing I lost about 10 to 15 so far that started moulting and just never managed to moult more than their carapace and abdomen.
Sad, but suppose its survival of the fittest. :(
Sure that some of the spiders that were "cut out" have made it fine now, so Scarab definately saved a few little subfuscas with his surgery.
