Breeding report:
Female: Mature.
Male: Hendrijs (Breeding loan)
Mated: 22 July 2010
Mated: 26 July 2010
Temperature (Close approximates): 22 - 28 degrees C.
Rehoused: First week of September 2010.
Temperature increase: End August 2010, increased to 34 - 38 degrees.
Humidity increase : Waterbowl and mild flooding first week of September.
Egg sac: 29 September 2010.

It was more difficult to find a male than it was to mate them.

On receiving the male from Hendrijs, I allowed him to freshen up a bit and replenish energy after the long journey.

Mating took place without incident. The female very receptive, the male a complete pro!

After rehousing the female, she took about three days to excavate a new burrow. I placed the decorations of the new enclosure in such a way that a starter hole was facing the front, she continued to re arrange the substrate untill a large "cave" was visible.

She started webbing her egg case at about 12H00 on 28 September, continuing with this untill late afternoon of 29 September when the eggs were deposited.

Holding thumbs here... will update soon.

I pulled the A seemanni sac this morning - 21 days.

The sac contained hundreds of undeveloped/infirtile eggs. I looked under the microscope, no nucleus visible. I broke one egg open, filled with flued only.

Will leave them in a hommock for a few more days, but have no hope...

Frootbat put some cotton wool into the sac, sewed it up and gave it back to the mother. She will discard when she's ready to do so. She was an excellent mother, not I nor she could do more. :(

Thanx all.

Although very difficult at the moment, I have hope for others that are heavily gravid.

If ANY breeding loan is considerred, I would recommend multiple males. I have a suspission it would drastically increase the chanses of a viable sac...

It will be interesting to see what comes out of the eggsac if you used that male to mate her.

Why?
