My T. gigas just had a catastrophic molt. Her ocular tubercle ripped off and she now has no eyes. she is deformed and in an all round BAD shape.
I notices her this morning preparing for her molt and I rushed off to work with her in my mind the whole day. When I got back I noticed she was molting on her side so her left side was the easy part but her right legs were folded underneath her body. I was advised to lay her on her back which I did and u spread her legs out for ease.
A few hours later I noticed she was struggling and I proceeded to remove the old exoskeleton which I succeeded to do quite easily.
There was a lot of fluid coming from her carapace but I could not find any ruptures. Upon turning her upright again I saw that her eyes had stayed in the old carapace and her "new" eyes had been torn out.
Hate seeing a tarantula having a bad molt but it happens. Honestly from previous threads i've seen where they have a bad molt, they usually only live a day or two. ICU and hope for the best.
