@F1refly : I'm all for your suggestion. Otherwise we might just as well make a Facebook competition where all our mates could just click a link and bam! votes.
Then you can get a rent-a-crowd, like those hideous FB games where you are just friends just for voting.

But - what are the limits imposed for voting then - comments or time on the site? Both are gippo-able.

True, people can easily gippo it by posting nonsense elswhere on the forum, but I still think an honest system needs to be in place, where you need say 10 posts at least and need to be verified by moderators as a user who hasn't just registered to vote or something along those lines. I can't think of a suitable system at this stage but I still think something needs to be in place.

And a suggestion :
Top 3 are not allowed to participate in 2 upcoming competitions. Will also keep out the rent-a-crowds. <running for cover...>

I won't lie ,I know what I did ,I got friends to vote me ..I later felt bad and told Dirk (creator) about it and that he could have all my votes removed ..
@F1 you always seem to poke your nose where its not needed ,like I said I spoke to Dirk about and even if it means not getting the prize I'll be happy !as I did things wrong ..what about your friend mandi ?when she gets people who hasn't posted on the forum in over a year to vote for her ?then its fair right ???
