My 3.5cm curly attacked my finger the other day when I lifted the bottlecap it hides under. Didn't bite, but jolted forward at me in an instant. It took it as a sign that it is hungry. so I think your theory might be correct.

I just added a hide and moved the water dish. It is already inspecting the hide.
But while adding it, whenever I touch the lid of the cage, it moved around very quickly. Like it is expecting to be attacked or something. It is very skittish, but I think it might calm down with something to hide in. Just hope he likes it.

Just wanted to post some feedback.

I added half a pot for shelter.
When I opened the lid to move the stuff around (the water was not where I wanted it but he was sitting where I wanted to put the water), he appeared very skittish and kinda freaked out running around. After this he moved into the hide.
He took a while before moving in, but is now nestled inside and looks comfortable.

Will see what his attitude is like after a few days and perhaps having fed again with the hide in the enclosure.

Hopefully he can calm down a bit.
Some webbing over the hide will also look cool.
