Claustrophobic?? was created by Brynn Lurie
I have a question regrding space requirements for arboreal T's.
I have a 10cm T. gigas in a 300x150x150 high tank, she has a cork bark tube in which she spends just about all of her time.

Im worrying that this tank is too small for her and even more worrying is that she is in premolt and i find it hard to figure out where she would flop over for the molt as the floor space is quite minimal.

from a recent topic I dicovered that too much space is never a worry and i do know that the general rule is the T should not be bigger that 1/4 of the tank but how would this apply to arboreal tarantula's?

Many thanks!

Hey dude

I would like to know this as well...because all my enclosures are built 150 x 200 x 300.

You would apply it like the same method used with your terrestrial tarantula.
So it will be 3 X times the leg span in height, 2 X leg span in width and bridth.

But your spider know what is good for them, just need to give them enough space so they can do there own thing, often my spider will make there area bigger for an upcoming molt, I will attach some pictures, I have had 3 spider molt in the same enclosures.
Most of them make it bigger or move out and make an area where to molt in.

I have similar sized tanks, mine are 220h X 220b X 150w.
They are fine for a 10cm spider (can even go up to 13) but I would say anything bigger than that needs to be put into a bigger tank.

I have other arboreal tanks that are 300h X 220w X 220b and another that is 300h X 300w X 220b and I have a 12 and 14cm spider in there at the moment.

I think if you want a perfect size you need to look at least 400 450 500 in height and 250 squared.
Gives you enough space for the spider and does not take up to much space either

According to that site, a 15 x 15 x 25 cage is large enough...

Ja that is in inches.

So that would be 38cm X 38cm 65.5cm
