Good day,

I have been thinking about this for quite some time. I want to build my own enclosures. the commercial ones here in sa just doesn't look to good and the good ones cost an arm and a leg. I have build some enclosures before for my reptiles but they were wood and didn't really cost me much.

I have been going through the enclosures threads and doing some research as well on aracnoboards. My first question is Plexiglass vs Acrylic vs Normal glass?

I know you can get Acrylic and Plexiglass form Maizey's and glass form your local PG Glass.

I need to figure out how these compare in the following categories:

Price :
Weight :
Thickness :
Glue or Silicone :
Durability :

Then, i have had some great success with backdrops. Going to attempt one for the new enclosures.

What is the best live plant to use, as it needs minimal son! and be easy to come by.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I will post all pictures and info on the build as i gather more information.

Go to www.mrtarantula.co.za

Jozua stocks cork bark. I usually buy from him.

The other stuff I can't help with as I still buy my enclosures.

I prefer using glass for all my enclosures, it's cheap, neat, doesn't warp & doesn't scratch like the other materials.
Here's an arboreal tank i built not long ago, hinged at the top & side. I used a magnet to keep the side door closed.

Price : R100
Weight : Guessing +- 2kg's when empty
Thickness : 3mm
Glue or Silicone : Silicone
Durability : None (But doesnt scratch like Plexiglass)
