Off Topic / Other Pets?????

Please help

How do I start this thread?

I bought 150+ Madagascar hissing roaches from a gentleman in Durban.
About a month in my keep the critters started to multiply.
Till about two months ago they were manageable...
BUT

Summer is happening and the roaches are multiplying at an alarming rate. :pinch:
I've tried a few tips by increasing the band of Vaseline from 75mm to 120mm :woohoo: Does
not work. The adults are to heavy to cross the barrier BUT the nymphs doesn't show any
signs of struggle to cross the barrier. :pinch:
I've dropped temperatures to stop them from breeding but the nymphs keep on coming and escaping! :S

PLEASE... PLEASE!!! I need advice on how to stop nymphs from escaping. The Vaseline is no good :(

Packing tape around your container works

If the vaseline is too thick they can climb over it, i found this out by having a few hundred lobster roaches escape.
A thin layer of vaseline with a band of packing tape below should do the job

Moved to Feeders.

Ok, so the tap does work.
The vasiline for me, I do not like the Idea of haven vasiline in my containers, as I was at some ones place and we wore busy with hes roaches and I got a handle full of the stuff on my hand, the stuff was mixed with dust and some other things, just plan dirty vasiline.
I hate getting oily and dirty at the same time  .
When you have to clean the containers you first have to wash it off before you can remove the Roach poo and stuff!
And when the vasiline starts melting it makes a mess.
that is just me!

Go down to building or your local hardware store and buy yourself that metal screen mesh that gets used to seal windows, to stop mozzies. The holes are small enough to stop a nymph from going through it!
Pull the piece over the containers opening and secure it with some elastic band and combined with the vasiline and the tap it will stop them from getting over!

Another way is to build your self a wooden lid that fits inside the container! with a mess opening in the middle to allow ventilation, using the mesh
