Hi Everyone

Ok so as far as T diets go, there seems to be a limited number of options available.
A few that i know of are:

Roaches
Crickets
Mealworms
Pinky Mice
Lizzards

So i believe the pinkys are more for the larger adult species, no argument.
Lizzards i have heard, are not too good as they could make your T unhealthily obese after some time due to their calcium content.

My question is:
I have not seen any posts here regarding feeding T's Mealworms or Superworms.
Is there anything wrong with these?
Also, why do you feed your T's what you do over anything else? Personal preference or specific reasoning?

I have also heard that feeding your T rat and mice pinks is a health risk as it added calcium hardens the exoskeleton so the T sometimes die during molt but I have no real evidence of this so far.

I used superworms for a while, T's loved them! As far as I know superworms are much higher in protein an other goodies than mealworms. And no, a superworm is not a big mealworm another advantage to using superworms rather than mealworms is that the superworms will not pupate if they are kept in a tub with other moving superworms. Mealworms will eventually pupate regardless of how they are kept.

Also remember that using mice as feeders poses a few other risks. Mice can fight back.

I regularly use mealworms and superworms.
The mealworms do turn into bugs pretty quickly but if you keep them in bran and feed them the odd banana peel the cycle continues and you should, theoretically, have an endless supply.
Worms do however burrow into the substrate once you put them in the enclosure, so unless the T takes it straight away they will burrow never to be seen again, that is till you clean the enclosure and find them all dead at the bottom.
P.S: nothing beats a T taking down a cricket IMO :evil:

Yes i do feed my slings a mix of pin heads and meal worms, but i chop the mealworm in half and also its head off so it can't dig into the peat. And the slings seem happy with them.
