Hello!!

I have a question for the more experienced guys here:
I've seen a lot of posts about the H. lividum Dark Colour Form and im just wondering about something;

Is it possible that these so called DCF's are minax/lividum hybrids or are they a ligit phase of the cobalt?

Not everything is down to hybrids.

There are people who keep making color forums up as they go along. more money, they still learning who the hell knows?

A curtain person keeps coining the term color forums, I'm sure he intend is to sell them as DCF.

You don't get color forums in H.lividum's, maybe a darker variant of the species but that is all it is.
If you take that supposed dark color forum outside in the sun light, and I bring my "normal" female they both will look the same.

I still stick to what I said all that time ago, you don't get color forums in this species.
Just phase the spider seems to go through.

I have had the same issue with Lividums. Please see two pictures below of two different Haplopelmas.

The first one is Lividum, no problem. The second one was bought as Minax, but obviously judging by the colouring, it is not a true Minax. But the seller maintains it is from a Minax female. So might be Minax/Lividum hybrid. The lividum and minax MM are very similiar...

H. lividum colouring varies greatly depending on how far through the moult cycle they are and how humid they are kept so a supposed dcf can end up looking like a lcf and vice versa. As long as you are not paying any extra for it people can call them what they want.

SP1D3R why do you consider the 2nd spider a possible lividum/minax hybrid and not just a misidentified longipes?

Because I don't want to get my hopes up. Will wait for the next molt to do the leg measurements as you suggested. Will keep you posted.
