Its a bit of a guessing game as to male and female.
You tell by the line in the middle of the abdomen.
The best way is through experience looking at sub adult male and females. Not really something you can be taught.
And then it is still an educated guess like ventral sexing (Although from 12cm up on most pokies, it is more accurate to sex via abdomen and carapace markings IMO)

The internets told me that P. ornata is the only Pokie that you can carapace sex. Is this true or does it work for some of the others as well?

Again, this is all guessing, but IMO ornata sexing works best by carapace colouration.
