Ah but an old curmudgeon with invaluable experience you are. It's a nice idea, I've got some insect books that have these sort of keys, and one of them has a dichotomous key that goes on for three pages :O

a huge mess indeed.there seems to be little valid info out there regarding tarantula taxonomy, and the little there is shows great inconsistencies regarding nomenclature. But I'm still keen on the idea. So what I'm thinking is that various shorter keys can be used, each specifically for one genus, with the key then aiding in identification of species within this genus. As for how to identify to genus level.....anybodies guess.
so after solving some technical difficulties, attached is a key dale and myself composed a while back, to aid in identification of the various poecilotheria species. Granted it is a incomplete first draft, and I welcome any suggestions and comments. It should give a good general idea of what I'm trying to do.
