Welcome Arrow, I can assure you there is a good couple of Members on the forum who also wore scared of spiders, and now they all have a good couple of Tanartulas in their collection!

As scarab suggested, Do your home work, read up as much as you can.
There is a couple of tarantulas, that will be the best for a first timer as yourself and some one who is a bit scared/nervous.

I was a huge arachnophobiac! :woohoo: Eventually you will love them to bits.

I will suggest that you start of with a sling... To get used to the idea of caring for a spider. Give yourself time, observe their behaviour, read, do your research, observe for the first time your tarantula's molt - and then the penny will drop! You will be desensitized and become an addict! :lol:
