Grammostola pulchra do have a brown phase.
How long have you had her for and has she moulted in your care?

Lord deliver me! Another large, brown, hairy spider, photo to ID.

Sorry, mate, but my frustration just got the best of me. I can tell you it's a New World species belonging to the subfamily Theraphosinae. I can think of at least 3 genera that it could belong to, and any of about 2 dozen species. Any hints as to its country of origin?

@ Mr Stanley A. Schultz
I was thinking its Grammostola because of the mirror patch and thanks to Hendrik's link ,the photo of a pulchra in its brown phase with the 2 tone brown legs looks identical.

Not much variety here in SA so chances are its the most obvious

Which other genera did you have in mind that have the mirror patch on the abdomen and maybe even the 2 tone brown colour ?
