Hi guys, I'm sure this has been asked and answered, but I can't find it.

I bought a Brazilian red and white "birdeater" (Nhandu chromatus) from Tim at "petbugs". I have been reading up on it and on the Lasiodora's, when I came across Lasiodora cristata, with the common name Brazilian red and white Tarantula ? I found someone on another forum saying L.cristata was re-classified?

I see absolute no difference in the two descriptions or various photo's that I compared. As I stick the scientific and common names on a sticker on my terrariums, I don't want to make a fool of myself. So, please help me clear this up!

Thanks Jake, I was kind of hoping there would be another Lasiodora to add to the ones I have.

Really? Platnick's World Spider Catalog (THE gold standard) still lists them as separate entities, but it's only updated about every six months. The last update is listed as June 13. Not too long ago. Can you or anyone else supply a specific reference?

Both have seen been moved between Genera, but they are not the same. I don't think L cristata is in the hobby. Our N chromatus was initially misidentified as V cristatum when it entered the hobby?

I'm not impossible. I'm being improbable.
