Hey,

Could anyone tell me how ants can be kept away from my tarantula cages. I am not fond of poison, you never know what it would kill other than the ants. Please guys any suggestions or tips. I have a real problem with ants in the house and they actually give me problems with my other pets regarding their food and cages. I keep everything very clean but it seems as if the ants decided this is the place to be.

So frustrated !!!!

You can sprinkle some baby powder in such a way that it encircles the enclosure. There also is some sort of chalk available from Builders Warehouse (I think) that you can "draw" with. It is sold in the form of black board chalk, just bulkier. You use this to draw around the enclose(s), it keeps anties and uncles away from the T's.

I had the same problem, I used that chalk it works up to a point where the ants sacrifice some of their own to clear a small little whole on line and then all of them moves through there with great ambition. If you really got a serious ant infestation poison is the only thing that will work. I lost 2 A. versicolor's thanks to ants. luckily that was a long time ago and I have moved since, No more ant problems :woohoo:

I had a problem with ants going into my sugar glider cage because they were after the sweet foods and juice but I just put vaseline around the base of the cage and that seems to have worked, perhaps you could do the same around the bottom of your T tanks.

Or you can catch them all and export it to mindstorm for a few bucks. Sorry mindstorm, I couldn't resist. ;-)
