I used to be a big fan, but lately it seems that it's all about death and carnage. I understand that mother nature is brutal, but does it have to be the focus of just about every wildlife show?

I just watched a lion fighting for it's life while being torn apart by buffaloes. I couldn't change the channel fast enough. It makes me sick to my stomach when I see sh!t like that. It seems that channels like Natgeo Wild and Animal Planet only cater for sadists.

Anyway, that's my rant for the week.

Either that or it is some guy who is gonna catch something .It's only the National geographic series that actually has something good but Mr Attenborough mos decided to retire.
The last really good show was "Wild Russia".

I've recorded that new show about baboons. Hopefully it isn't the animal equivalent of Mortal Kombat. I'll look out for Wild Russia.

I've been hoping to catch something about tarantulas, but no such luck. I would have thought a show about scary spiders would have been popular, but apparently not. Maybe there is not enough bloodshed to satisfy the masses.

I'm always looking for anything about Snakes, mostly ones in captivity and a very few shows actually have them. I remember Python Hunters was quite good and Snake Underworld is my favourite so far. The only show I can think of that has ANY Tarantulas in it is the show called Samurai Spider. It's about Japanese Spider Fighting and it isn't half bad actually. Okay, it's not tarantula fights, but Orb Weavers and even then they don't fight to the death. Theres quite a lot of Tarantula footage in it so it might satisfy you temporarily.

Concerning other Wildlife Shows: I couldn't be bothered about the animals getting killed or whatnot. I've euthanised enough Mice and buried enough Cats and Dogs to realise it's part of life. However, I would rather get my intestines pulled out than watch any Wildlife program about African Mammals, specifically the Big Five. I think they are the most boring animals to ever walk the plains of Africa. Documentaries about Giant Spiders the size of a Cow I would watch though. Any day of the week, I'm there.

Anyway. I am with you on this. Where are the shows that show the entire life cycle of an animal? I also agree with F1refly's opinion about the big five. I have seen enough lions in my life to not spend any time watching another show about them. Or going to a lion farm and hear them roar when the son goes down. 50 times is enough for me.

I think we all crave something new. And PLEASE!!?!?!? not another reality show. Imagine, the Chihuahua's of Sandton, or the Dachshund's of Pretoria North

We need a scientific show about the latest species that have been discovered and/or described, and not one about how these species are on the verge of extinction and being killed by humans or an invasive species. Show us the beauty, perhaps then people will appreciate them more and care more. Showing graphic scenes will make most people change the channel and the message won't be relayed anyway.

An Imax show I can recommend (not a series mind you) is IMAX Dolphins and Whales. It shows some of the strangest sea mammals on the planet as well as the largest whales, some rare footage, etc. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Just stick with it through Darryl Hanna's boring voice over.

Also, a tarantula or spiders in general show would be nice

Agreed, we need something new. I remember watching a show about spiders many years ago. Tarantulas featured prominenty. We were in hoedspruit at the time. I loved the show, although I didn't sleep properly for a few nights after that. LOL! Those are the days I still kakked for spiders.

I think a series about a tarantula wrangler/crusader would be awesome. Imagine following this guy around the world as he tries to track down some of the more rare species. During this time, he obviously also stumbles across the more common species. They could easily make 12 episodes out of that, and people would watch. Most of them, just for the thrill factor, but that doesn't matter. The point is, it would sell.
