If you can't philosophise about swimming with the greatest apex predator on earth, then you have the imagination of a bath plug ;-) You are very lucky to have a partner as crazy as you are. I think my wife is coming around though. Wether she likes it or not.

Have you ever done a track day? I used to go to Kyalami quite often. It is not the same type of experience as the sharks, but the single minded focus, and the adrenaline of getting low enough to kiss the tar (I exaggerate)... that can be pretty addictive as well. Problem is, the faster you get, the more expensive it gets.

Back to the female who had an upset with the great white shark, while stepping or touching the nose.

There was a show on discovery think it was called "Sharkman" who's idea was to hypnotist a great white via means of "Tonic immobility" there are some youtube videos available. In the end he failed, with the great white, as he touched the nose of the great white it dashed off almost like a strong current was being passed through the shark.

The sharkman did however succeed with a HUGE tiger shark.

That is why I think the great white acted the way it did?

Just finished reading the first blog. What an amazing trip. Beautiful scenery, the open road, good food and better wine. Man, sounds like a dream come true. I have often thought of doing something like this, and have discussed it with the wife. She suggested we start small, and build from there. It is one of the reasons why I traded the Ninja on the Speed Triple. I know, not much of a tourer, but alot more comfortable than the superbike. I've had the bike for a few months, and besides a few trips to Harties, we haven't done a single trip on it. It seems so hard to set aside time, but it must be done. Otherwise it will just be one of those things you dream of, but never do.

Your comment about the Harleys brought a smile to my face. I have a friend who has one, and he told me to take it for a ride. Bloody hell! Never again. No handling, no power, no brakes. Seriously... no brakes! LOL!

It certainly sounds plausible. I never thought of that. I just thought it was trying to take a chunk out of her.

A Harley is not a bike mate, it's a fashion accessory, and not a good one at that. I have a Suzuki Boulevard... now there is a BIKE if you must have a cruiser !!!

Tiger Sharks are the Jamaicans of the shark world. They are immense, but seemingly on a constant high. They are very laid back compared to Great Whites and most other Mackerel sharks. Because they roam mostly tropical water, which in most cases is crystal clear, they have evolved with an attitude of "screw surprise, I'll just come up to you and eat you, see if you can stop me"...

Tonic immobility revolves around the inversion of a shark, a bitch with a one ton animal with attitude...
