I met an entomologist last night who urged me to join this club.
It's R120 for an annual membership. Looks really great!
There are a number of outings each month, all are hosted by Astri Leroy (co-author of Spiders of Southern Africa and many others)

Is anyone here already a member and can comment on their experiences with the club?

Been a member since I was 9 I think. Learnt everything I know from John and Astri Leroy and Jonathan Leeming.
Havent been very active the last few years, but they have awesome outings and you learn a ton from experienced members on the outings. Well worth it and will recommend it to anyone considering it.

I have met a member from the club and gave her a few local spiders I found around my house for the yebo gogga expo. I would join to go on the outings but im super busy all the time with school sport...It seems like a really nice club if you want to learn lots about our locals and enjoy some time out looking for spiders and other arachnids...

Look, at R120 a year, including a chance to go on outings as well as a quarterly newsletter, it is well worth it.

Would it be worth is for someone like me living so far away?

You still get the newsletters and I think Norman Larsen arranges outings down there.
For R120 its still worth it.
