Credit Card Scams was created by Vanessa
I was wondering if anyone on the forum have been victim to some form of credit card/on line scam ?

Today I found out that a dating site in the UK (Global Personals) got hold of my credit card details (I buy a lot of crap online) and have been charging me R145 per month on my credit card for the last 3 months. I did purchase a 1 month dating site contract on behalf of a family member, but it was only R50 and it was a completelly different site/supplier! I know it's probably due to my stupidity and ignorance, but I rarely check my credit card statements - did it out of pure boredom today!

When I googled Global Personals - I found a lot of people had experienced the same problem.

Luckily the amounts were small but it turned into a big inconveniece, since I had to cancel my credit card and order a new one.

Any idea where I can report this?

you could go to the banking ombudsman and demand your money back from them, but it's not guaranteed... there are also countless online scam sites you can post different scams, and details of how you were scammed... if that dating site is a legit site, you can also request proof that you accepted their terms and conditions. there are countless things you could do. cancelling and reopening is normally a last resort

I am not sure of my facts but there is a period which within you can reclaim funds spent from a card - even with a debit card. -the time period is longer on a credit card. You can also circumvent paypal disputes this way.

As long as you notify your bank that there has been money taken with out your approval, the bank will refund you and start an investigation.

My Gran fall victim to card scanners, the guy also worked for the bank, they even knew how much she drew and what her limit was.

Then at 11:55 they draw the rest of the money, then at 12:05 they draw the her limit.

It took 3 weeks and the bank returned all her money that was taken.

1. Find out where their office/house/basement is.
2. Take S. calceatum on road trip.
3. Introduce angry S. Calceatum to offenders using one-liner such as "Say gello to my leetle friend!" or derivative.
4. Profit!

I'm not impossible. I'm being improbable.
