E-Toll se hol!

I fiercely abhor this entire concept. Thousands of South Africans are just barely living on the bread line and yet our government continues to find ways of taking more money from it's citizens.

I'm not gonna get started, I'll fill 5 pages with disgusted utterance quicker than you can count Zuma's wives. Well, that might actually give you a fair head start...

It's a pity they can't force CORPORATE companies to cover the costs of their employees travelling these routes. Especially reps and so on.. (Not talking about SMME's...... PLEASE don't bite my head off!)

I wanted to resign from my current company - I live 60km from work and have to travel through 8 of these white moneysuckers every day, but my company offered to cover all my toll fees.

My husband, on the other hand, works for a Cape Town based company, and they refuse to pay these new toll fees (he is a rep). And since the car he drives is on my name, I'll have to pay the toll fees and hope he can claim it back.

I don't have a problem with tolling in general, but I think this system is way too sophisticated for our country - we can't even properly manage our hospitals and schools, how are they going to manage the e-tolling system? And imagine what the repair costs will be for these babies, not if, WHEN they break down!

Fat Government Tender Cats have been/will be scooping up a lot of cream from this venture !!

At this point they can't take money from your account or send you bill, if you have not registered and stuck the tag in your car.
So you will be fine for know driving on the high way, for a while.
If you really wont to buck the system just drive with Taxi number plates on your car as they are driving for free, Why? cause they stand together and make a big stink about it.

They have gone about this arse about face, one thing that will become an issue is Identy theft and number plate cloning, basically driving on someone else dim, this is the reason why number plates have to be bolted or pop riveted onto your car now.
But there are a couple of number plate shops that will still make you plate over the table for "something" under the table.
Hopefully they will make enough money to get some extra police to make sure this does not happen

I don't have a problem with the toll road, I won't mind paying, but just make it cheaper so every one can afford it, 5 cents Km or something stupid like that, or charge a fixed price like Taxis do.since the government is in need of money just be honest and say they need the extra cash,cause they don't have enough to look after the country.

None the less, it will happen whether we like it or not, this is the fact of running a different mentality in the country!
Just remember this, the truth always comes out!

Taxis, buses to pay e-tolls for now

Johannesburg - Minibus taxis and buses will have to pay e-tolls until regulations regarding exemptions are finalised, according to a report on Tuesday.

Business Report said regulations relating to toll exemptions had not been finalised, with the transport department only publishing the draft regulations for the exemption from e-tolls last week despite telling the minibus taxi industry they would be exempt from e-tolls last year.

On August 10, Cabinet approved its decision to grant exemptions from the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project (GFIP) to qualifying minibus taxis and buses, the newspaper reported. It was also proposed that emergency vehicles would be exempt from e-tolls.

Public comment on the draft toll exemption regulation closes on May 8, eight days after the implementation date for e-tolls, according to the newspaper.

E-tolls are expected to start on April 30.

Before the exemptions will be implemented, the public comment received will have to be considered before the regulations can be finalised and gazetted.

The North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria will hear an application by the Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance (Outa) on Tuesday for an urgent interdict preventing the SA National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) from launching the e-toll system.

Sanral on Monday took out full-page newspaper advertisements showing a map of the tolled roads. The system affects a 185km stretch of the N1, N3, N12 and R21 around Johannesburg and Tshwane.

This is due to the amount of fraud, corruption and money mismanagement our Government is so specialized in... Being honest about being corrupt? That's just not in their "modus operandi" and is what got them to this point in the first place... Our government's coffers have had more than a steady supply of funds, but it's all....

This Government seems to lose billions of Rands in the same way I lose pocket change to my couch. Or it simply blows money on parties, expensive cars, lavish travelling arrangements and useless road name changing the same way I blow money on Tarantulas...
