Missing legends. was created by Shaun Tosen
Have noticed something in my short time on the forum. Many passionate people with MANY posts simply disappear.
Why?
Where did they go?
Does any one still have contact with them?
Or is it that I opened a can of worms?

Like Scarab, he was a very active member. He even had a T Hotel. And then POOF GONE.

Or is this just the way things go??

Thank goodness Stan is still here, along with many others. Without the active legends I would be lost

ShaunT, life happens(broad spectrum), politics, people egos get hurt and take thing far to personally and a couple of other reasons, the biggest deciding factor is financial problems, a couple of members have had this issue.
Members have been coming and going since I joined this hobby and I think it will be like that for the rest of the hobbies life.

Mostly life happens, where people get busy and the spider hobby takes a back set.
Some people are in contact with each other, some people get out of the hobby good and proper.
Some people drift in and out of the hobby and some people are always there with their alter ego, watching, reading and keeping a low profile.

The fact is, the site is where all your information is. Allot of other sites also have threads that were started and the person left the hobby, in turn you have a dead thread.

Bearing this in mind, there is always someone else who has the knowledge and who can help you, if you don't come right on this forum, we have international forums who can help and if that does not work, then Google is your bestest best friend in the world.(as long as MR Google plays nice and does not stop you from Googling topicsucks :starwars:  )

Exotics in SA is still "fairly" new and we are still growing into the hobby.
We have lots of growing and learning to do together and it starts with one day at a time.

ShautnT has asked that we delete this thread as he feels he has done harm by posting this. I disagree, this is a fair question to ask and a solid kind response by Cascade.

No harm, no foul. You will need to grow rougher skin ShaunT, there are some kind characters on this forum and some tough cookies too, don't take what anyone says personally or to heart, soak in what is useful to you and ignore junk from banana crusaders.

ShaunT, it is valid question and it is fact and history, It is part of the history of the site and of the spider hobby.

We can't erase what has happened in the past but we can ask the questions and we can learn from that.
Every person has their own story and path that they have gone on since joining the hobby, some paths are good, others, have been sad and :chainsaw:. .

And Dude it is not a stupid post and no harm has been caused.

And if I offended and made you feel bad anyway, that was not my intention I was just stating facts and history. :P
Vague history and Vague facts what happens to people that leave the hobby.

I've been here a while and its sad but true that many of the members I used to look out for have left. As cascade mentioned there are numerous reasons for this and such is life i'm afraid.

Then at the same time the forum has gained many new members and or returning old members both good knowledgeable folk and complete noobs. In a way this not a bad thing as it also allows fresh new thoughts and ideas on the forum as opposed to reycling the same old info.

In an ideal world nobody would leave and new guys would keep joining and we'd all be one big happy family. This is not the case so we sit back and watch as the cycle run it course, the legends fade, the noobs become legend, the hobby becomes lifestyle and the T's become cheaper. Ok, a man can dream....

Sometimes I think my sole purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others
