My first roach experience didn't go so well.

I had a T a week or so and so i decided "yay its feeding time!", and being the gay little boy i can sometimes be i wanted to do something special soooo... i went out and bought myself some roaches, ten to be precise.

Upon opeing the container they immediately gave me the creepy crawlies...
Secondly as soon as it hit substrate it was burrowing -.- OMG i freaked out!
I Dug out the freakin thing and then grossly placed it back into the container. They are still inside the cupboard out of sight... and my T enjoyed some nice fat crickets lol

These guys are perfect feeders and not really more gross than crickets. Get over it!

Blatta (Shelfordella) lateralis don't climb and their movement is similar to crickets which make them a good alternative even for the odd T's that may be a bit fussy with roaches if they never had them before.

The first time I had to feed roaches to my Ts I also got grossed out. But after a while, they are much better than crickets. Mostly because they don't stink, they don't jump and they don't die so easily.

I asked for some tips on how to get them more manageable, have a look at this thread. Helped me a lot and was able to use almost all the roaches (probably 2 died) and they bred a bit so I got about 20 small babies roaches left that I am waiting on getting bigger.

They are lobster roaches, i cant get used to them -.- I'll ask a friend to help me feed them, he's got a lrg collection of T's and recommended i try roaches... HAHA

I do also prefer roaches at the moment, especially the forest roach because it cannot climb a smooth wall and don't make any noises
