SEPTEMBER 11th. 8:30 for 9 a.m. to +- 3:30 p.m.

Tswaing Crater north of Pretoria.
T
his will be led jointly by The Spider Club of Southern Africa and Robin Lyle of the Ditsong Museum of Natural History (was Transvaal Museum). Robin will supply vials and other collecting gear but if you have your own, please bring it along. All specimens will go to the museum collection with the exception of any adult tropical tent-web spiders, Cyrtophora sp. which will go to Phillipa Franzini who is revising the genus. Cool drinks and snacks etc. are available at Tswaing but you may prefer to bring your own picnic lunch, liquid refreshments, etc., and wear good walking shoes and a sunhat and sunscreen – in fact the usual, it can be pretty hot inside the crater. There is an entrance fee which I think is R15 per adult. No booking necessary, just come along.

I think that is one thing that all arachnid keepers should do and experience. I will be there too

Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are good is like expecting the bull not to charge because you are a vegetarian.

Everybody is welcome to come and visit, kids dad, mother, father and everybody else you want to bring with.

It will be a day full of fun for everybody.

Just bring enough water for when we go out collecting as is can get extremely hot mid day.
