Yesterday I noticed a midge infestation in my H incei communal. Turns out one of them had died and the midges had somehow discovered it deep in the tunnels.

So, rehouse. It went a lot smoother than I had anticipated. Not one of them bolted.

I put 13 slings into the enclosure about 8 months ago, but found only 6 of which one is MM, two are female and three are juvies.

Here's the MM. He is quite a bit smaller than a friend of mine's MM H incei



This is one of the two females. She is either incredibly fat or gravid. None of the other spiders are even close to this heavy.

I tried 'candling' but couldn't see anything. What do you think. Fat or gravid?



This morning I checked in on them to see how they got along. The male and the second female were energetically at it, and by this afternoon she had kicked him out and closed up her new burrow with substrate. Will be keeping a close eye on that hole.

i love thes pics, i love olives, had a communal,ended badly then i had two left which last week turned into mm (both of them) so in other words,im screw but i must say the MM are really pretty,your female looks gravid (hope so) can never have to many olives :rock

The fat female has still not emerged after closing herself in, so here's to hoping she is indeed gravid. I've seen them retreat deep into their tubes but never close themselves off like this.

It's a shame about the male though. He's done the two mature females and is now just aimlessly running around looking for more.

Will try again soon, i see tim has a small female,ill just snatch it like i do with most of his stuff:-) hopefully she moult soon

So then this morning I saw mold around where the one female had plugged herself in. Dug a bit and, expecting the worst was pleasantly surprised by this:
Last post, when I rehoused was 1 month 5 days ago. 1 Month 5 days for making the sac, gestation, ewls and what now looks like 1st nymph stage. These guys are fast!

Pretty exciting to see it happening in your enclosure?
Wait till babies start coming out and mommy starts webbing up for them.
Then you will see slings hanging around in the air.

It is funny, H.incei males seem to mature allot smaller than normal.
