Yeah, I was unfortunately out, but my brother and mom went and said it was a great learning experience. Got to dissect a few spiders from dead collections to show how to identify them along with a lecture and tutoring from Astri Leroy.
I see there are no more ID courses planned for the year unfortunately.

For anyone that feels like learning more about local spiders, I urge you to join the spider club if SA.
The fees per year are R120 which includes a quarterly newsletter and invites to all of the outings. There are some great weekend outings to game farms as well as day outings to various reserves in Johannesburg, so easily accessible for us Gautengers for a Saturday or Sunday.
If you need more details go onto the site and have a look.

Can't believe that I missed this thread - where can we go to get fore warning of such events! any mailing list or club that organises these?
Would have been a massive hit with (I would assume) over 70% of people on this forum.

Ummmmm...possibly the spider club of SA would organise these? Their details are above if anyone is looking to join as well as an events calendar.
Tarantula people are mostly not interested in our local spiders other than baboon spiders, plus the spider club doesn't really support catching wild caught animals, so think most tarantula keepers stay clear.
