There is no such thing as an import permit for Tarantulas, and I doubt there ever will be.

As I said, there are ingenious people finding cracks in the system, and will undoubtedly continue to do so, albeit at a very reduced rate.

@ Scarab: What can we as non-breeding forum members do to support the breeding programs etc. other then trying to buy up your stock before they hatch? Cause if I have to come serenade dem Balfouries just say the word.

The history of this forum since I joined shortly after the Ark landed has shown time and time again that people get into the hobby with a tremendous bang, then vanish soon after. If 10% of the people joining commit to the hobby for longer than a week, we will have more breeders in time to come, and bigger variety. There are some awesome spiders in this country already, most are just small still.

Until then, buy from local breeders because it helps fund their projects to some extent.

I agree with Scarab, I have seen big names leave the hobby people with tons knowladge regarding tarantulas just leave and sale and new names start with big Ideas, just to stay for a couple of months and then also decide to duck.

There are stacks of other people that have tarantulas and even breed them, I have learnt of 3 guys staying in my area that breed and have tarantulas but they are not on this forum.

No one had to breed tarantulas in the past as you just got them imported So much easier, now the name of the game is to breed, to learn and try get Hold of Mature males.

Rather support local guys/girls rather than spiders that are quite obviously being imported.
