Okay so it isn't that rare. It is most definetly a Thrixopelma Ockerti from the looks of it. I think I will buy it. Do they breed them here in SA or are they mostly Imports like this one is? How big do they get on average? Are they arboreal or semi arboreal?

My male matured two days ago and I don't think they are that hard to breed, will give it a try anyway. They have been bred in SA before. My female is about 12cm and they are semi-arboreal. What is the price at the pet shop per sling?

It was R390 for a Large sling. I think it is about 3 to 4 Centimeters. My parents decided to buy it for me for Christmas regardless. Nice of them but I think it was a tad overpriced. But it was from Pretty Gardens in Bloemfontein so no surprise there. So now I have this little guy and I can't think of a name. Any suggestions? I am keeping him in a Jar with peat or something from one of those Compressed bricks from Pet Stop. Quite a feisty bugger when it comes to feeding.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, this one I have is supposedly a imported one, that was bred in captivity and the guy only imported 2 from what my dad told me. I quite like the little guy and might even attempt my first Tarantula breeding when he/she is mature.

That is a very good price for that size. I love it when they go into defence mode and lift their abdomens 90deg. to their bodies, sooo cute.

Okay then, so it wasn't overpriced. Yeah he/she is kinda cute and doesn't take no kak from anyone. He/she has settled in nicely and will be my first arboreal/semi arboreal since all I have at the moment are Terrestrials. Kinda boring. Do they web alot as I like those that web a lot like the indian violet.
