Hey peeps, I found this on another website and I really thought it was interesting. I never knew you could feed your tarantula lean meat. What is your say in this?

Defrosted raw fat-free meat can be used be aware that it is illegal in the UK to feed live mammals to your spider. It can be useful for when the spider needs additional nutrition (in preparation for egg laying etc). Sometimes placing the meat in front of the spider is all that is needed, but some need to be stimulated before accepting the prey.

I've read about this too, seems very strange but why not? Even read a story about a guy whose tarantula actually ate pieces of cooked steak.

Personally i wouldn't risk feeding lean meat to my t's. That meat has been touched by human hands or processed and packaged and even if it hasn't it's not nearly as fresh as a cricket.

I agree, all the stages the meat had to go through etc.... But its very interesting - I never knew that it was even possible feeding them a piece of raw meat...

Iv heard about this, and read up about it, from what i have gathered its NOT GOOD for your spider to eat raw meat "Beef", yes they eat mice and lizards in the wild but most guys prefer the good roach and crickets are far better for your T. I think beef also has to much protien for your T...

Interesting. My friends Stepfather who has no interest in Tarantulas actually suggested I try this. Seems he was on to something. I've tried with dead pinkies so I know it works but I don't know if they will see a chunk of meat as prey.

I personally will not feed my T's a piece of meat, here is my 2cents!
When animal are farmed for meat, the chances that the farmer used steroids, growth boosters, a SH!T load of antibiotics, and medicine/chemicals on the animal is quit good, except if it is organic meat... But then you must think of this, when the animal is slaughtered it is cured for a few days to let the Rigor Mortis Process take place. When this curing process is done the meat changes a lot of its composition, it is basically the beginning of the decomposition process, the corps's enzymes start breaking down the molecular structure of the animal's muscles. So in my opinion even this decomposition process and those enzymes might have a negative affect combined with your T's enzymes(the enzymes in the venom) might have a negative affect on your T.
I am not even going to talk about the farming process cause I am sure most of us know what chemicals can do to our T's...
