Plz help! Is this normal? My B.Smithi hasn't molted since Dec 2010. Been looking pretty much as the pic! I've put him/her on a diet, but fed him/her a medium cricket this afternoon. Haven't given him/her any food for 3 weeks!! just water. Temp is 27°C and humidity is at ±50%(it's winter...can't do better at the moment)

looks just over weight to me, stop feeding altogether with only water and just wait it out till it molts. four months ago for a molt is not so long ago IMO. so i dont think u have anything to worry about...

Dirklord, your T looks healthy to me. If you are implying that the last molt was Des 2010, I don't think you need to worry about it. :)

Just give it some time. With a abdomen like that he or she should molt soon.

The T' looks fine to me, just a bit too fat

I'm sure it'll moult soon, just relax!

Looks perfectly healthy and a T can't really be 'too fat', the 'fatter' the T is, the bigger the scope for growth at the moult. I have a B smithi male which took 18 months too moult the last time!!!
Just make sure it has a decent water supply before a moult...

You can take an Aphonopelma to crickets but you can't make it eat!

Cool...thanks everyone. I'm not that educated on T's yet and frequently freak out when things happen(or don't) unexpectedly. I'll stop with the feeding. In the meantime....here are some pics of my baby Avic Avic!!!...Enjoy
