Hi guys I really want one but the only thing holding me back is my nephew he is almost 2 and I'm scared he gets hold of it.... And ideas for tips or would u suggest I rather not get one? And stick to my t's because I do understand how dangerous these little beasts can be

Hi spinnerkop, I understand the concern!

They can easily be housed in containers with secure lids (these include glass or plastic containers or tubs), there are various options available, even ones that can be locked completely with something like a combination lock.

Another option is to house them in a secure container, at eye level, and out of reach in a cabinet with a lockable glass front. This way the glass-front serves as yet another backup.

There are actually many ways to secure them, but its all up to personal preference, budget and requirements really. This doens't necessarily have to cost much.

One of the most important factors though, would be educating the toddler, learning him that scorpions is totally off hands and to be respected!

Female gets bigger, tails are more or less the same, i do find that the male P. transvaalicus some times gets better colour than the female darker in colour... when fully mature... Very dangerous pet so be CAREFUL

I just want to address concerns around keeping animals with children around.

...cars are far more dangerous - does that mean you will walk because you have a 2 year old around?

it boils down to being responsible.

If a 2 year old dictates what you can and cant do as an adult, there is a problem.

If you animals are in secure enclosures and those enclosures are not accessible by little hands, there is nothing to worry about.
