I have noticed that there aren't many T. Ockertis being sold or bred here in SA. I know Cenotaph had a Succesful Egg Sack but it was eaten by the Mother.

So this is something I wanted to know. How rare are they in SA? How often do you see them for sale? What Sizes are those that are bieng sold? Are they local bred or Imported?

I got a 3cm Sling from Pretty Gardens in Bloemfontein last year as a Christmas present from my Parents. It cost about R395 but I don't know if it was a good deal or not. He/She has molted two or three times in my care and is now about 8cm legspan. If it turns out be a male he will either be put out on Breeding Loan or Sold to whoever needs him.

In 2009 a few were imported, not sure of the exact numbers. Since then I only know of Shinobi Dragon's friend that bred them successfully last year. I haven't really seen any other successfull breedings of these since then.

R395 for a 3cm sling is a bit over-priced, but can be expected from a pet shop.

There are currently about 3 or 4 people trying to breed them, so there should be some slings available soon.

In my opinion, they are rarely offered for sale in SA. As adults, juvies or slings.

Thanks for the info Cenotaph. I suspect mine was either an import or it could have been a sling from Shinobi Dragon's friend. It would be nice to see more of them in SA as they are a beautiful species. Well I hope those other breeding attempts are succesful.
