Hey guys. I want to ask some advice.

I just bought a A versicolor from somebody(not on the forum) as Female. Only got it delivered to me today by a friend who picked it up from the guy on the way back from far away. It's a truly beautiful spider!

When i got it i immediatly started examining it for any signs of tibial spurs/hooks,could not see any. Then i looked at the pedipalps. I've never seen the so called "boxing gloves". it looked to me as if they were very mildly swollen and "reddish".

I've heard about palpal bulbs, do all species get them or only some? Sorry i cant post a pic at the moment don't have my camera with me.

Just worried because i paid for a female and if this guy sold me a mature male I am going to be PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. the T is about 9cm legspan

Well if its mature and it has the 'boxing gloves' then it should have the tibial hooks to go with it. Thats a sure way to tell if it's a male or not .... otherwise you are left to wait for a moult to examine the exuviae... although if it is a male and it's mature it won't be having one of those again

Only males have the bulbs, and yes, they are red.

Dammit,seems like what I saw were indeed bulbs...just my luck:(

Jut phoned the guy, he says the last molt was 10 days ago but it was destroyed and if I can prove to him that it's male he would give me a partial refund.

Wow, that is low, I will never understand how people can do that. He is obviously not a T lover and does not care about his reputation. But at least the T is with someone that does care. I know you are unhappy but at least you can give this lovely creature a good home.
