Do not use water gel with your tarantulas. A few of them learn to use it, but many don't. It only works a lot of the time, not always. And, it costs money. So do the dead tarantulas.
A simple water dish with a rock in it works 98% of the time.
And, why the rock? Placing a rock in the water dish that's large enough to protrude above the water, but small enough to allow the tarantula to drink around the edges prevents crickets (among God's dumber creations!) from drowning quite so easily. Drowned crickets foul the water, posing a potential threat to your tarantula, and they waste your hard earned money.
And why only 98%? Because nothing in biology is 100%. Because sooner or later some tarantula is going to persistently fill its water dish with substrate and die of thirst. Because I've got to cover my behind just a little!
