So im considering getting a Stromatopelma calceatum, I See these guys have a real bad reputation

are they really as bad as people make them out to be?

As long as you don't try to handle it then it wont be a problem. Just check under the lid before taking it off though.

When it comes to the S calceatum, only one word comes to mind. RESPECT. Without respect towards the T (and all T's actually for that matter) you surely will have a problem.

And like Duke said, do not handle!

Take the above into account and you have a very lovely T that I would say any old world lover should have in his/her collection.

Agreed uncle charlie. if ur a man..;) u should have a calceatum..!!, its one T i can say that matches its reputation. but definitely a jewel among tarantulas. if ur a bad ass and think u are hardcore. u should have one.. haha

this is the bruce lee of tarantulas :silly:

i,ve just started with the old worlds but man they are awesome, My collection is swiftly becoming just old worlds I definitely want one of these guys!! Was just a little nervous, saw things about these guys actually chasing people :ohmy:

I got a Sub-Adult H. Maculata on the weekend, Rehousing it i was actually calmer then what i am with my cobalt blue (Haplopelma lividum)
