Is this normal or could it be a problem?

Hi all,

I am a bit concerned.

Last night when I went in to check what the T's are up to, I found all of them up on the side of the glass of their enclosures. I'm sure I've briefly read a post that said when the T's climb on the sides of their enclosures it might be that there's mites in the peat.
The reason for my concern is, I noticed ants getting into the cricket tubs and think they might have gone into the enclosures. I couldn't see any ants in their enclosures though.

It was just very strange that all of them were up on the glass at the same time and they didn't even run down when I came close. Normally the H. incei bolts when you come close and it just sat there allowing me to take pics and stuff.

This morning they were all about their normal business again. So I'm wondering if this might be a night time phenomena or troubles in the peat....

Can someone please help me with this.

My Species:

Acanthoscurria Geniculata
Brachypelma Vagans
Holothele Incei
Nhandu Chromatus
Cyclosternum Fasciatum
Grammostola Porteri

I don't think it's a problem. Mine T's do it quite often as well. I've seen all except my T.cupreus and the smaller slings do it.
I've considered the possibility of them outgrowing their enclosures so as an experiment I moved a B.emilia into a huge tank and.... she still does it.

Next I figured they may be seeking the cool temps of the glass... but mostly at night so, no.

Perhaps trying to get to the vents for a nice breath of fresh air?

I vote if you can't see a definite problem with mites or something it's just what they do.

Sometimes I think my sole purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others

If you can't see anything in the enclosure than you don't have to worry about mites and things like that.
Maybe a post a picture or 2 of your enclosures, that way we see what you see.

But it is a privilege to see your spider out and about like that.

It is not always "bad" things that make your spiders do funny things.
The reasons why they do this not really known to us humans, but they could all be exploring at the same time!
Or trying to catch the last bit of heat from the day, looking for food or just talking to each other :drunk:

I have a Nhandu tripepii that is permanently on the side of the glass, I have rehoused her 2 times, I have given her a hide I have removed the hide, I have dried her substrate to bone dry, I hove flooded her substrate so on and so forth, she has become and arboreal spider.

Just enjoy the fact that they are out.
Also a good thing that you are keeping an eye on your spiders.
