So about 2 months ago I decided to get a few dwarf T's. I got a C elegans, a C venezuelensis and an Ami sp panama. Damn these things are small when slings!!!

Things started off really well, until 2 weeks later. After not seeing the C venzuelensis for a week or so I discovered it was just gone. Maybe it escaped through an airhole although they were literally 2mm big.
About a month after that and the same thing happened with the C elegans. With this one though it could have been accidently thrown out with a bolus perhaps as some substrate always gets disposed of at the same time. I did check the enclosures thoroughly with a tweezer and magnifying glass, they were definately not there.
Then 2 days ago my Ami sp Panam was found in a death curl, I put it into an ICU but still no movement. Think it's a goner.

Really bummed but also think it's nature's way of telling me that the Dwarf species are just not for me. sad

Who knows. I use needle thin holes for all my tiny slings, and then I cover it with tape and then poke holes in that with needles

I keep the dwarf species in deli cups with no holes or in the pill bottles.
And I don't just open the container without locating the spider first. :spider:

I think we all have spiders that is our kyptonite. And no matter what correct/different husbandry is used, they still die.

Avics, P. muticus, S. calceatum are mine, No matter what I did, they still died, unless I can get them past a curtain size then they are fine.

I have not gotten myself a new Avic species in over 3 years.
The only S. calceatum that I had was the female that bit me but got her almost full grown. but she died due to a bad molt.

I would say you need to try keeping them 3 more times before you throw in the towel.
Changing one thing can make all the difference in the world.
