Please help ... we saw this in a T's water dish this evening. It's about 8mm in length and was alive. It's difficult to see if there are more walking around/hidden in the substrate.

Need I be concerned and dump the substrate?

It's a called a pillbug, roley poley, wood lice. And good to keep in you T setup. They help prevent mold and mites.

Thanks for the info. Should have kept it then and not flushed it down the drain? :(

From Wikipedia : Owners of pet tarantulas sometimes keep pill bugs as cage cleaners in the same habitat. The pill bugs eat faeces, mould, and leftovers. They are sometimes caught and fed to pets such as lizards, but this is not recommended since those animals might become poisoned.

You will most probably find more in the enclosure.

I have been keeping and breeding Isopods for 4 and half years now.
They help keep your enclosure clean. The really do work.

The only down side, you have to keep them moist or they die.
Dryer enclosures won't work for them.

That is why they work so good in damp enclosures. No need for them with dry setups.
