I also make use of doom in my T room.....I have been using it for more that 5 years and no negative effect what so ever. What I would recommend is make sure it is the long lasting doom and spray it close to the surface so that the surface gets wet and it does not form the mist cloud. It is not necessary to spray your shelving, but I spray every 2 weeks around the window sills, the door and where my shelving touches the wall and floor.

I started using doom seeing that I could not kill a T with it. I had to doom the kitchen under the instruction of the wife after an escaped T decided to go hide there. I searched for about 3 hours without any success, so I had to use doom. Three days later my wife called me to the kitchen and the T was sitting on the kitchen table.....doom was designed to kill insects not spiders.

I also use doom on the floor where I keep my feeder insects, but there I am very careful as that might end up in a big disaster.

You can also create anti-ant stands for your enclosures if it's practical for you.

Basically you are creating a "moat" or non-crossable bridge for ants using a wooden base and little oil filled reservoirs, they hate oil too.



Cinnamon and Baby powder also work as mentioned, and I have heard that plain corn flower (Maizena) kills them too, they eat it but they can't digest it, and they peg.

I used to have a huge problem with ants and also did the re-housing thing a couple of times, then I discovered a product called "Blue death" (A doom product). My whole T-room is lined with it (on the scurting boards) and on the occasion that they do get past the blue death and into a T's enclosure, I would sprinkle some on the carpet and put the T's enclosure on top of the powder and leave it there untill all the ants had time to climb out(and they do all climb out on their own). I even had some T's run through the blue death with no ill effects.

another thing to use that is clean and easy.not expensive.if 1 is close take a look at the indian or china shops cos i have seen it in the normal shopping marts.a type of chalk that repels insects.used it at a time in my kitchen and it works.
