Interesting note:
We've all seen the speed at which a spider attacks its prey. Was this ancient spider a slow mover? For amber to have covered it mid attack, it couldn't have been a very successful species. I guess that's why it's extinct.

Or the wasp could have killed the spider and then got covered in amber.

I'm going to go with cascade on this one as well, the wasp probably killed the spider or was about to and the resin flowed over and put them into that position, the resin didn't instantaneously solidify so it left some room for the wasp and spider to change positions.

I THINK... the spider already caught the wasp or whatever it is and while the spider was busy eating (or still busy killing) it, the amber came from behind and got the spider by the legs... theeen the spidy realized hes in big sh!t and discarded its prey because now it was struggling to break free, the wasp was obviously dead by then and the amber just walked over em both. if u look at the spider it might be possible to see that he was struggling, the wasp look like it was dead before he got "amberred" notice the legs all crawled up . it wouldnt have been able to crawl its legs up "the dead position" when it was in the amber. think about it... see it......
