Today could not have ended worse!!!

My little (5 to 6cm) X immanis went into ICU on thursday as most of you guys most probably have read. There were moments where things looked good and I had hope and then there were moments where things looked bad.

The little T finally decided to go to the big tree/burrow in the sky today. :(

Why is it that a person gets so attached to a creature? I feel like I just want to donate my T's and not continue with the hobby, but I guess that would be stupid cause things like this happen in life. I just need to find a better way to deal with it.

:( :( :(

Sorry to hear that.

I think that is normally response for people, to wont to get rid of their spiders cause a spider died.
Not sure why this is? Just shows you care.

Sorry to hear that the little guy finally died :(

Not to come off as insensitive, but this will probably not be the only spider you will ever lose in your collection, you can't consider giving up the hobby every time a spider dies ;)

Having said that I was in a similar predicament around February this year, I lost three of my favourite spiders all in the span of a month, they were a L violaceopes 18cm female, L. niggerimum 14cm female and a P. rufilata 18cm female, this shattered me, they were my favourite spiders and I had raised all of them from slings and had them for a couple of years.

Having lost these spiders I went into depression mode for a couple of weeks when I finally reached the point were I was gonna sell all my spiders, I told my wife about that and she was the one that told me to really reconsider because she knew what passion I have for my spiders.

Long story short,.. I listened to her, kept all my spiders and looking back at that I really can't believe I was so close to the point of selling all my spiders

What I'm tryng to say is don't give up on you're furry little friends, you'll be better for it

Hey Uncle C,

Try use this experience to bring you closer to these wonderful creatures.
I recently had a very traumatic experience with my mature female T. gigas who suffered a TERRIBLE molt, lost her eyes and was completely deormed and eventually passed in the night.
I was also distraught but i now feel so much closer to them after realising how affected i was and how much i suffered along with the gigas.

after everything, life goes on and you have other T's that need your attention. dont let the casualties of life dissuade you from the love you already have for tarantulas.

All the best man.

Thank you for all the responses you guys posted. Much appreciated and a lot of things that got me thinking.

Guess its just a shit week! Just burried my cuz today aswell and some other shit also happened this week. So all just added up.

Still extremely sad about losing my beautiful T. But ja, it happens. So I will pick my head up and continue the hobby, I just love my babies to much to even try and imagine giving them away or selling them.

Now to start hunting for more Xenesthis spp.
