As a matter of interest, where do you buy your crickets? My good friends at PetStop lost, I think 8 spiders last week. They are pedantic about their spiders and goes to great length to keep them healthy, yet all died for no reason. If you bought from them, it might be that their supplier has a problem with his crickets.

If you don't feed crickets, then ignore the above.

I usually get my feeder items from Q&A reptiles at Brightwater Commons (not sure if we are allowed to mention names here), but as I've stated, all my T's eat from the same food items and the others all survive so I doubt the feeder items are at fault. I generally feed crickets but treat the T's to mealworms every now and then. I've read that a diet of mealworms can reduce the lifespan of your T's due to the high fat contents so I only use them as treats.

Where & when did you buy the H mac? there was alot of wild cought ones brought into the country a couple months ago! along with avic avica & blondi's! and all of them are pegging left right & centre!

I got mine at the Expo in May this year as a juvenile which since grew almost to a fully glorious adult. It was from the guys at Lifestyle Pets (having seen their shop since then I would not buy from them again, but since I knew nothing of them at the time of the Expo...)

Sorry to say mate! thats a victom of a wild cought T!

I remember reading that wild caught specimens suffer trying to adapt to a different climate. Slings are OKish by juvies or adults are very difficult to adapt.

But that is just something I read somewhere, I do not have any facts to support the claim.

Either way, it sucks when a spider dies.

My A geniculata died for some reason. I thought it was due to super-glue, but seeing as the T keeper's guide suggests using super-glue to fix a bleeding wound and reading various places of people actually doing this, I doubt a single drop left to cure for about 10 hours before placing in the enclosure would be able to kill a T from curing vapor fumes.

but anyway. Sure you will bounce back and lessons learnt - where NOT to buy.

Well, lesson learned. I went to their shop a few months ago and after seeing the state of their T's enclosures I was so shocked I left without buying the A. avic that I so desperately wanted.

So these were wild caught then? This would also explain why this H. mac had a serious aggression problem (I mean more so that the captive bred sling which I bought that is so docile I "consider" handling it at times.)

Any wild caught animal tends to be heavily infected with parasites. These are usually microscopic, such as nematodes, and can make a healthy looking animal die without any apparent reason. Too late now, but try and avoid WC's.
