Sort of off topic, but is there a minimum age before these guys can be sexed? (or any T for that matter)

I tried sexing mine from a 5cm molt but my eyes can't magnify enough, lol.

I have been off the forum for a while, "on the JOB" so to speak, now I'm in the mood to talk "k@k with ya'all.

I know of four breeding projects other than Cerat and my own. I heard via the vineyards (where I spend many happy hours) that some guys attempting to breed P metallica are pretty set in their ways and refuse to adapt to P metallica requirements. I am not convinced this will bare fruits, but we will see.

What I have learned from RobC, and recently from a friend in the Philippines seem to work best. They are both in the Northern half of the globe, so are Zzeee Germans and the Poms. I don't give a shit what happens in Australia and/or New Zealand (unless the Stormers and Boks play there) but apart from us here in sunny ZA, not many breed them in the Southern hemisphere. I'm not sure what happens behind the Cocaine Curtain in South America, but we is an Island. SO, does THAT make a difference? I think it does, and am referring to P metallica in specific. Rodents like M balfouri will breed in Uranus, but seemingly, P metallica won't, and believe me, I have tried. SO, in my opinion, this is but ONE of the reasons we struggle to get eggs. If anybody can offer more explanations or reasons why we battle, kindly share.

It is a time consuming process with a difficult code to crack. As I said before, I think I know the secrets, but the females obviously don't... We wait.

Edit: Swifty, you should be able to see spermathecae at 5cm but with a microscope. Also bare in mind that the spermathecae are fused and at 5cm will still be translucent, thus VERY difficult to spot wiff naked anything...

I think the major downfall with us here is that there are only say 5-10 breeding attempts every year. If you have 5 gravid females now then next year you will have 8 and then in 3 years have 16. Others in europe are playing around with communal setups of Poecilotheria metallica (Gooty Ornamental)

@Scarab your trial and error with just a few pairs has already paid off. Imagine with 8 pairs?

You will see in the next 5 years Poecilotheria metallica (Gooty Ornamental) will be available from lots of people.

I'm sure there will be more soon, I just pray to God they don't breed uhm...
