I have had reasonable success keeping colonies of Aviclura spp.touch wood.My motto is lots of hidey holes and food with avics.
Would some other species be amenable enough particularily Ornamentals and Suntigers? Is the ability to co-habit limited to aboreals or will some terrestials as well?
Emperor scorpions co-habit well,I keep 6 adults together with up to 4 sharing the same cave.

Interesting topic! i am puting 10 H. incei together now in a comunal enclosure to form a colonie. I think it is going to be very interesting and satisfying!! I will keep my eyes on this thread and hopfully there are others who know about other species that wil co-habit!!!

Myself and some other people are keeping communals of Poecilotheria fasciata, and some other Pokies seem to work as well. My communal fasciatas are around 5 cm at the moment.

Hysterocrates gigas seems to be a good candidate, as well.

There are a handful of communal tarantulas but then some will only tolerate being in the same area and not actually like sharing the same hide or same food item which in turn causes them to eat each other!!

But I think if your tank is massive in size I think you could keep allot more tarantulas in a setup together as long as they can have their own homes and territory .
Lots of hiding places and lots of floor space for the odd exploration attempt.

Take an example of local baboon spiders the stay with the mother for quite some time then the move out but they don’t go hundreds or meters away from the burrow they stay in a close radius to the mother’s burrow.

So in a since you could call this a communal!

Also your chicken spiders are communal tarantulas.

agreed with Miss M and Carlo. I have 2 communals up at the moment.1 is a 6 H.incei communal and the other is 6 P.fasciata communal. they both are flourishing without any problems !!! I have even witnessed both communals sharing prey items together ! very cool indeed !!Cerat and others told me to have minimal hiding places as possible. Else some individuals will become territorial and guard its home when threatened! I have 1 piece of cork bark in the P.fasciata's cage. They all should make contact with eachother ever so ofetn. else could lead fatal !

Please note... i am NO expert in the matter. but have experienced NO problems with the communals kept !besides being a little mission when doing cage maintenance.
