I yesterday discovered a Bird-dropping crab spider (Family Thomisidae) Phrynarachne rugosa, on one of the plants in my garden. This is only the second one I have seen around here.

These spiders sit on a leaves of plants, looking like bird poop, waiting for their prey (usually flies) to come and investigate the pile of poop. The spider then strikes and overpowers its prey. It's an awesome method of camouflage, if the two front pairs of legs were not extended I probably would not have noticed.

Thought I would share some photos, because I think not many tarantula keepers on the site, with the exception of those that are members of the Spider Club, have seen them before. Sorry for the bad quality of some of the photos.
