What an awesome tarantula!
I'm unsure as to the proper conditions to keep these guys at, this is due to the vast range of ways I have been told to keep them, referring to the humidity I mean. I have heard that they should be kept in very humid conditions, but on the other hand i have been told the opposite of keeping them very dry. Now I know for a fact that versi's are not hardy tarantulas and they die mostly as slings in comparison to other Avic species.
Please give me ur opinion from PERSONAL experiences with this particular species, saying the humidity, heat and other slight details that one should watch out for with these beauties...

thanx in advance

Very good question. I also have a sling. Everyone says that they die for unknown reasons. I hope you get a good answer, since I hope to learn from it 2. :)

Here is experienced advice. I had 11 or so different species and close to 35 avics at one stage. I never had the misfortune of one dying on me.

This is what I did...

The temperature should be between 22 and 28.

It is an arboreal species, so give it height with an air vent at the top. It requires air movement, which will come naturally when air cools off or vice versa.

Give your enclosure a plant (I use Love Palms); I am convinced that plants keep your humidity perfect. Test it yourself, put two empty enclosures where you keep your t's, one with a plant and one without. Check the containers the next day and you'll find water in the one with the plant.

All you need to do is to water the plant once a week or so. I never had to mist the enclosure once a day and I never used a water bowl.
If you mist it means that the enclosure will dry out at some stage and you'll need to mist again. A plant keeps the humidity constant and that is what they need.

and ONE last thing...

Use a plant please!!!!
If you can take care of a tarantula and remember to feed it, you'll be able to care for a plant too. ;)

Frootbat, but what about when they are slings? cant fit a plant into such a small container, and did you wash the plants out or do anything before you put them in, or just straight from the nursery, aaaaand what subsrate did you use :)

ALWAYS wash your plants before use, especially when you get them from a nursery.

Use an enclosure of about 15cm in height, add the palm and then about 5cm of palm peat, I would use this size even for a sling. The container is light-years smaller than what they have to deal with in their natural setting.
